2017 Project Clear Skies recipients announced as President and CEO delivers first cheque

Published on June 28, 2017

The Ottawa International Airport Authority is proudly distributing the proceeds of its 2017 Project Clear Skies campaign. On June 27th, Mark Laroche, the Airport Authority’s President and CEO, presented the first cheque to Marcel Proulx, Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Centre artisanal pour la déficience-intellectuelle de l'Outaouais (C.A.D.O.).

C.A.D.O. provides support to persons with intellectual disabilities in the development of skills and work opportunities as well as offering families with advocacy and respite assistance, and educating the general public about the needs and capacities of its clients. The Project Clear Skies funds will go towards the purchase of tables and chairs for C.A.D.O. facilities where many of its activities take place.

“The airport’s donation will enable us to maximize the seating capacity in the centre’s kitchen,” said C.A.D.O.’s general director Aurèle Desjardins. “More clients will now be able to participate in activities at once, which will improve their quality of life.”

“Ensuring that we provide support to this region of our serving area is important to the entire airport team, and I am extremely proud that the Authority has been able to provide needed funding to so many worthy organizations that are in turn improving the quality of life for many in Gatineau,” said Mark Laroche, President and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority.

Project Clear Skies, which was first launched in 2004 to celebrate the Airport Authority’s first anniversary in the new terminal building, funds charitable projects in Ottawa and Gatineau. The Authority has funded nearly $1.7 million in worthy projects, of which more than $525,000 has been invested in Gatineau. In the 2017, $31,000 will be divided among 5 charities, in addition to a donation that was made earlier in the year to the Red Cross of Gatineau in support of flood relief.
