Air Canada's increased service to Ottawa great news for the region's travellers

Published on January 24, 2008

Air Canada announced additional service for Ottawa, including three new routes which are set to take-off in May. The new routes are as follows:

- Daily service to Saskatoon
- Daily service to Thunder Bay
- Twice-daily service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

This announcement further solidifies Air Canada’s commitment to the Ottawa community. In 2007, the airline added more than 10% capacity in Ottawa with new routes to Fredericton, Moncton, St. John’s, Las Vegas, Cancun, and Montego Bay. More recently, Air Canada also announced new flights to begin in 2008 to both Charlottetown and Frankfurt, Germany. The new routes are complemented by additional frequencies to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, London (ON), Quebec City, Halifax and Boston.

“Air Canada’s announcement comes as a direct result of strong demand from the Ottawa/Gatineau market and we are delighted that our customers will now have even more choice when making their travel plans” said Peter Vice, Chairman of the Board of the Ottawa International Airport Authority.

Authority President and CEO Paul Benoit added “We appreciate the vote of confidence and look forward to working with our partners at Air Canada to make each route a success”.
