CANADIAN AIRPORTS COUNCIL - APPOINTS MR. PAUL BENOIT AS CHAIRMAN
Published on January 24, 2000
The Canadian Airports Council (CAC) announced today the appointment of Mr. Paul Benoit, President and CEO of Ottawa International Airport, as Chairman of the airport industry association.
Mr. Neil Raynor, CAC Executive Director, said: "Paul Benoit has been involved in every aspect of the aviation industry during his long and distinguished career. He brings to the Chairman's role a wealth of industry knowledge, hands-on experience and a significant network of aviation contacts. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable as the airports of Canada strive to provide excellent service at reasonable cost, and encourage growth and competition in the emerging airline restructuring situation."
Mr. Benoit said: "The CAC plays an increasingly important advocacy role for Canada's independent airports, particularly in liaison with governments and other industry bodies. The CAC has taken on a leadership role to help resolve some of the crucial issues facing local airport authorities. I look forward to the challenge of working together with the industry to ensure our voice is heard."
The CAC's business purpose is to provide an industry voice for Canadian airports. Today the CAC represents 25 airport authorities in Canada, which collectively facilitate the travel of over 95% of all passengers. The CAC focuses principally on:
-providing a unified voice for Canadian airports;
-facilitating the exchange of information within the industry; and
-promoting the interests of the airport industry in Canada to government and other industry partners.
Other recent CAC Board appointments include Mr. Larry Berg, President & CEO of the Vancouver International Airport, as Vice-Chair, and Mr. Michel Latour, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer, of Aéroports de Montréal, as Secretary-Treasurer.
