Ottawa International Airport Authority announces 2017 results
The Ottawa International Airport Authority announced its results for the year ended December 31st, 2017, at its Annual Public Meeting today.
Figures
- Passenger volumes totalled 4,839,677 for the year, which represents a 2.0% increase over 2016. Domestic travel led the growth with an increase of 3.6% over last year. The total breaks down as follows:
- Domestic: 3,813,672 passengers;
- Transborder: 647,574 passengers; and
- International: 378,431 passengers.
- Revenues were 5.2% higher at $128.3 million compared to $121.9 million in 2016. The increase in passenger volumes contributed to the positive impact on aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenues. Increasing non-aeronautical revenues helps keep our aeronautical costs as low as possible for the benefit of our airline partners and passengers.
- Earnings before depreciation totalled $32.8 million, with net earnings after depreciation of $3.8 million.

Highlights
We are extremely proud of the results achieved in 2017, including the following highlights:
- The Ottawa International Airport returned to the top of the podium for customer service with a 1st place finish in the category of Best Airport by Size and Region – North America for airports that serve between 2 and 5 million passengers, and earned 2nd place Best Airport by Region – North America for airports that serve more than 2 million passengers per year;
- The launch of the No Airport Selloff education campaign advocating for the current private, not-for-profit Canadian airport governance model;
- Host of Canada Border Service Agency’s first Primary Inspection Kiosk deployment;
- Collaboration with the City of Ottawa on the airport station of the Trillium Line/LRT Stage 2, and confirmation of federal funding;
- Achievement of Carbon Accreditation Level 2 and formally presented with Level 1 award (photo); and
- Launch of the YOW Showcase in Arrivals where local enterprises and centres of excellence can share their stories with our visitors.
