Director, Airside and Groundside Operations

The Ottawa International Airport Authority (OIAA) was established in 1997 under the strategic oversight of a community-based Board of Directors, which is representative of its multi-stakeholder environment. The OIAA is part of a 26-airport National Airports System and is one of 8 Tier 1 airports in Canada. Building on teamwork and sustainability, OIAA safely connects people, moves goods, and creates economic prosperity for the National Capital Region. Based in the nation’s capital, the OIAA operates in a dynamic and high visibility environment which offers a unique opportunity for senior aviation, public sector, and regulated industry leaders.

OIAA is currently the 6th largest airport in Canada, based on annual passenger numbers, with revenues over $146 million and is well positioned for continued success and growth. With a long-term Airport Master Plan, the Authority has set goals for future development to meet the demands of its community, travellers, and business partners.

The Director, Airside and Groundside Operations ensures that the Ottawa International Airport Authority remains operational for both general aviation and commercial operations, while meeting certification criteria and conforming to environmental guidelines. The position additionally ensures long term viability of the airport through proper facility planning and liaison with various governing bodies, such as NAV Canada, Transport Canada, municipal and regional authorities. Accountable to the Vice President, Operations and Infrastructure for service delivery, the incumbent will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and integrated services and effective internal/external communications across the airside and groundside operations.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in airport operations, stakeholder engagement, and leadership. Utilizing their strong interpersonal skills and results driven mentality they will independently manage and oversee the multiple concurrent projects and strict deadlines required to keep the airport operating effectively. The successful candidate will demonstrate consistently strong negotiation skills, budgetary responsibility, and strategic planning ability.
