Director, Major Projects

The Ottawa International Airport Authority (OIAA) was established in 1997 under the strategic oversight of a community-based Board of Directors, which is representative of its multi-stakeholder environment. The OIAA is part of a 26-airport National Airports System and is one of 8 Tier 1 airports in Canada. Building on teamwork and sustainability, OIAA safely connects people, moves goods, and creates economic prosperity for the National Capital Region. Based in the nation’s capital, the OIAA operates in a dynamic and high visibility environment which offers a unique opportunity for senior aviation, public sector, and regulated industry leaders.

OIAA is currently the 6th largest airport in Canada, based on annual passenger numbers, with revenues over $146 million and is well positioned for continued success and growth. With a long-term Airport Master Plan, the Authority has set goals for future development to meet the demands of its community, travellers, and business partners.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Major Capital & Strategic Planning, the Director, Major Projects will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision for managing major projects within the Ottawa International Airport Authority. This represents a critical role within the newly established Major Capital team, serving as a key leader in strategic management and in the coordination of planning, design and construction for major development projects. Moreover, the Director of Major Projects will actively contribute to shaping the project management vision and approach for the Authority, including conceiving innovative strategies and methodologies to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and overall success of major project execution.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and experienced project director with a proven track record of successful major project delivery from initiation to completion. With exceptional communication and people management skills, the Director, Major Projects will foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the team. The successful candidate will be tasked with infusing creativity and imagination into their practical approach, bringing ideas to fruition in alignment with organizational objectives. A keen eye for innovation and sustainability, paired with a proficiency in bringing ideas to life will be highly valued in the role.
