IT Specialist

The Ottawa International Airport Authority is accepting applications for a full-time IT Specialist position.

As a vital member of our Information Technology (IT) Team, the IT Specialist is dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation of our common use passenger process systems and internal Ottawa International Airport Authority’s (“Authority”) IT systems. This role encompasses proactive management of key technologies, guaranteeing effective IT services organization-wide. The IT Specialist is also pivotal in providing timely and proficient computer-related technical assistance, both remotely and in-person.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Install, configure, support, and maintain user computer hardware/software in a multiple-server, network environment;
  • Install, configure and maintain industry specific hardware/software applications i.e. boarding pass printers, bag tag printers, common-use kiosks, etc.;
  • Troubleshoot reported issues and perform the maintenance and improvement of Corporate Systems:  Windows environment including Active Directory and Exchange on-premises and in the Cloud, network, and storage systems, including on-premises and in the Cloud, remote work systems, including VPN and integrated boardroom screens, and other systems as brought into the corporate environment;
  • Troubleshoot reported issues with and perform the maintenance and improvement of Airport Systems: Building Management, Airport Operations Systems, Displays, Kiosks, Service Desks, Parking, PA, Telephony, and Security systems;
  • Diagnose and provide solutions to user computer problems, workstations, fileservers, communication servers, hubs, routers, switches, firewalls, and other connectivity related equipment;
  • Maintain and troubleshoot WAN/LAN (wide area network/local area network) systems;
  • Perform the implementation, deployment and operation of information systems and technology solutions for business needs;
  • Remain current about new or emerging trends and technologies that can benefit the organization, business partners, and customers;
  • Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes;
  • Add, remove, or update user account information, reset passwords, etc.;
  • Aid in ordering supplies and services (inventory and licensing);
  • Compile daily reports and/or logs;
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems; and
  • Provide immediate resolution to help desk service requests within a timely manner.
  • Provide internal IT support (server security, software updates, hardware maintenance etc.);
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must :

  • Demonstrate willingness to continually learn and apply information technology systems knowledge and be willing to take on new systems and challenges. 
  • Be self-motivated, organized, be able to work under pressure and within time constraints, and give a high degree of attention to details. 
  • Be proficient in multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks. 
  • Possess strong customer service and excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence (Class G or equivalent).

These abilities, combined with a professional and positive attitude, will ensure success in building positive working relationships in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :

  • University degree or College diploma in Computer Technology, Computing Science or in a related discipline OR a combination of relevant education and a minimum of three (3) years’ related experience;
  • Knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; systems testing and evaluation principles, methods, and tools; IT security principles and methods; COTS products; Internet technologies; and/or emerging information technologies
  • Knowledge of operating systems and applications, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting;
  • Understanding the behavior of software in order to deploy it and to troubleshoot problems; and
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English.

ASSETS :

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certificates in any track;
  • Project Management experience; and
  • Bilingualism (English and French) 

ABOUT THE POSITION :

Salary

$80,767.00 to $91, 287.00 per year in accordance with the current Collective Agreement (July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024 rates) and based on a work week of 37.5 hours.

  • Provide a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month)
  • Successfully obtain:
    • A security clearance check for an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);
