Members of the media must receive Airport Authority approval prior to coming to the Airport to carry out any filming activities, interviews or business. For approval, please call the Authority’s media line at 613-248-2050.

General media information

Safe Airport operations must be maintained at all times; media activity must not impede passenger movement or staff activity. Equipment must not be left unattended in the terminal, and all cables must be properly secured to avoid trip and fall hazards.

Any requests regarding airlines or agencies that operate on the Ottawa International Airport campus should be made directly to the concerned agency’s public affairs department for their individual authorization.

In the interest of Airport security, filming of the security screening checkpoint or of security personnel is prohibited unless approval is provided by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA).

Airport access

All media representatives who wish to access the Airport campus (including lobbies, the Parkade (P1), the Long-term/Overheight lot (P4), roadways, lounges, and other common use areas) must receive approval from the Authority by calling the media line.

Access to the secure area of the Airport and the airfield is strictly controlled. Requests are subject to Transport Canada security measures and approval and will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the Communications and Public Affairs team. Prior request is essential to ensure adequate lead time for approval and availability of authorized staff escort(s).

Parking

Media representatives must park their vehicles in the Parkade (P1), unless otherwise instructed. Parking vehicles for live broadcasts can be coordinated by the Authority’s Communications and Public Affairs team in advance. Specific vehicle location, instructions and authorization applies.

Emergencies

In the event of an emergency situation, prearranged media access may be postponed or cancelled. The Authority reserves the right to restrict media activity at any location on Airport premises if public security, safety or operational concerns so warrant.

In the event of an aircraft emergency, Authority representatives will provide information concerning operational impacts and information concerning the airline involved and only with the necessary permission.

All other inquiries must be directed to the airline/agency involved.

Social media

The Authority’s social media channels will be used to convey information concerning Airport operations where possible.
