At the Ottawa International Airport Authority, we think there are many things that make Ottawa-Gatineau an extraordinary place to live, work and play. As Canada’s Capital, we are privileged to be home to many national treasures including Parliament Hill, a variety of museums, the National Arts Centre and some of the most beautiful natural settings you can imagine. We are also rich in culture with many art galleries, performing arts centres, and some of the country’s best music and cultural festivals, which sets us apart from many other Canadian cities. We are also home to centres of excellence in education, health care, agro-tourism and technology. As the gateway to Canada’s Capital Region, the Ottawa Airport has the unique opportunity to showcase these wonderful local assets to the nearly 5 million passengers who travel through the facility each year, as well as to those who come to greet arrivals.

The Ottawa Airport has reserved a space on level 1 in the Arrivals area, where we are inviting community partners to show off their unique events, innovations and contributions to the fabric of our region. Located in the highest traffic area of the airport, the “YOW Showcase” will offer participants great exposure to our visitors.

We are pleased to announce that our first YOW Showcase participant is Ottawa 2017 Bureau. Their interactive kiosk installation will give our visitors a glimpse into what the region has to offer during this most special Sesquicentennial celebration year in Ottawa-Gatineau. Visitors can get information about the region, 2017 events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

“We are pleased to welcome our partners into our airport to share their achievements and events,” said Mark Laroche, Airport Authority, President and CEO. “As the gateway into Ottawa-Gatineau, promoting our region’s offering to all visitors is a win-win-win for the airport, our cities and community partners”.

“The Ottawa International Airport is one of the most prestigious gateways to our city for visitors from the rest of the country and around the world, making it an essential location to give a good first impression and set the tone for the celebrations,” said Guy Laflamme, Executive Director of the Ottawa 2017 Bureau. “We’re proud to feature some of the major Signature Events at the airport to give travellers a flavour of the events taking place when they arrive.”

“I am delighted that we are sharing our region’s well-kept secrets with our visitors,” said Susan St. Amand, Chair of the Ottawa Airport Authority’s Board of Directors. “This showcase will offer a very special opportunity for our community partners to let the rest of the world know how they help make Ottawa-Gatineau a great place to live, work and play, and to invite the world here to visit”.
