The Airport Authority is hosting a job fair
on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Infinity Conference Centre.

 

Multiple airport employers will have representatives on hand to provide more information on their role in the airport environment and share current and future employment opportunities.

Many of these opportunities offer wages and benefits above the entry-level, as well as a path to career advancement and diverse experiences.

Opportunities with the Ottawa International Airport Authority

The Airport Authority manages the airport terminal and airside infrastructure such as runways and other airport lands. It is responsible for the safety and security of all facilities, passengers and employees, and currently has more than 20 available positions including:

  • Human Resources professionals
  • Skilled trades

  • Airport Operations Coordination Centre (AOCC) positions (likely Gate Coordinators and Security Coordinators)

Security screening officer

GARDA for Canadian Air Transport Security Authority - CATSA

The Pre-Board Screening Officer ensures that what enters the secure zone (people and baggage) complies with CATSA’s rules. Working on the frontline requires you to be on the lookout for potential threats and effective in the event of an alert. This is a career that offers in-depth training, long-term development and opportunities for advancement in both part-time and full-time positions.

Border Services Officer

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)

The Border Services Officer ensures the free flow of admissible people and goods, while supporting national security and public safety priorities. They:

  • contribute to the fight against terrorism, crime, illegal immigration and the illegal wildlife trade
  • collect duties and taxes on imported commodities
  • protect Canadians, the environment and industry by preventing narcotics, weapons and firearms, obscene materials and other prohibited goods from entering Canada
  • assist to protect against human, animal and plant diseases

Ramp agent / Baggage handler

Airlines hire third parties to manage the work required to get an aircraft to and from the gate. This includes load/unloading baggage and cargo; servicing lavatories; connecting/disconnecting the aircraft to the bridge, operating belt loaders, baggage tractors and carts; marshalling the aircraft.

Cooks, baristas, bartenders and servers

SSP

Master Concessionaire SSP manages most restaurants in the terminal, and they have opportunities available for kitchen staff, front-of-house and supervisory roles.  

Custodian

Bee-Clean

The building maintenance team is responsible for keeping the terminal, parking lots, and other airport buildings clean and tidy. This includes cleaning various surfaces with a variety of equipment and products, gathering and redistributing baggage carts and managing the waste management program.

Airline positions

Airlines offer many types of job opportunities, from customer service to Ground Support Equipment Mechanic, flight attendant to data analyst or cybersecurity.

Retail

Paradies Lagardère

Master Concessionaire Paradies Lagardère manages the retail stores in the terminal and they have front-of-house and back-of-house opportunities available, from sales associates up to management roles.

Parking attendant

Reef/Impark

A parking attendant helps customers use parking equipment (including pay stations, ticket dispensers, entry/exit columns), make online parking reservations, and resolve payment discrepancies.

Security guard

Paladin Security

The security team ensures that members of the public and employees adhere to security policies and procedures. The main duties are to ensure the integrity of the primary security line (inside and outside of the terminal) and manage circulation along the entrance curbs.
 

Getting to the Job Fair

The Infinity Conference Centre is located at 2901 Gibford Drive (at Hunt Club Rd.). There is plenty of free parking. OC Transpo serves this location with routes 90, 96, 97, 197, 198 and 199.
