HOW TO ENTER THE YOW 5 MILLIONTH PASSENGER CELEBRATION (THE “CONTEST”)

  1. This Contest is sponsored by the Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier International Airport Authority (the “Sponsor”).
  2. Entrants must find the “Sparty on the Shelf” located in one of the shops or restaurants in a variety of publicly accessible pre-security and post-security retail and food sections of the Ottawa International Airport terminal and post a publically-viewable photo of themselves with Sparty tagging the Ottawa International Airport handle on Facebook or Twitter in order to enter for a chance to win.
  3. There are two ways to enter the Contest: through i) Facebook or ii) Twitter:
    1. To enter on Facebook, you must:
      1. “like” the Airport Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/FlyYOW;
      2. post a publically-viewable photo of yourself with Sparty on the Shelf with the hashtag #YOW5million; and
      3. tag the Ottawa International Airport handle.
    2. To enter on Twitter, you must:
      1. follow the Airport Twitter feed at www.Twitter.com/FlyYOW;
      2. post a publically-viewable photo of yourself with Sparty on the Shelf with the hashtag #YOW5million; and
      3. tag the Ottawa International Airport handle.
  4. Each person can make one entry per each Sparty on the Shelf location in the Airport using each of the two ways to enter the Contest (Facebook and Twitter), for a total of two entries per person per Sparty on the Shelf location up to a maximum of 10 entries. If you are found to have entered using multiple social media accounts or multiple e-mail addresses, all your Contest entries will be void.
  5. The contest commences December 12, 2018 at 00:01 AM Eastern standard time (“EST”).
  6. To be eligible, entries must be received by 11:59 PM EST the day prior to each draw date. For certainty, dates of the draws are:
  • Monday, December 17, 2018;
  • Friday, December 21, 2018;
  • Monday, December 24, 2018;
  • Friday, December 28, 2018; and
  • Wednesday, January 2, 2019 (Grand Prize draw).

For example, to be eligible for the first draw on December 17, 2018, your Contest entry must be posted online/received by 11:59 PM EST on December 16, 2018.

  1. Entries from each draw period roll into the next draw period as well. Anyone who makes a valid entry between December 12, 2018 at 00:01 AM EST and January 1st, 2019 at 11:59 PM EST will be eligible for the Grand Prize draw (excluding those who have won a Raffle Prize).
  2. No purchase is necessary to enter the contest or to win the prizes. You can take a photo with Sparty on the Shelf without making any purchase.

PRIZES

  1. There will be four (4) raffle prizes (“Raffle Prizes”) awarded, each consisting of one (1) gift basket provided by a variety of Ottawa International Airport vendors.
  2. Each gift basket is slightly different. For example, Raffle Prizes may include:
    1. Gift cards from HMS Host for food in the terminal, various bags, cotton top, baseball cap from First Air, 2x single use passes for Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge and 2 sets of Air Canada mittens and toques, silver collector coin from ICE Currency Exchange, 1 pair Canada Olympic team mittens, $25 gift certificate for food/drink from Tulip Bar, 50% off single use parking pass for the Airport Parkade, notebook, pens and pencils from American Airlines, gift cards from Booster Juice valued at $20, and various other products.
    2. Gift cards from HMS Host for food in the terminal, various bags from Paradies Lagardère and DFASS, cotton top, baseball cap from First Air, silver collector coin from ICE Currency Exchange, voucher for $25 for breakfast at Hilton Garden Inn, Porter plane model, 1 pair Canada Olympic team mittens, 2x single use passes for Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge and 2 sets of Air Canada mittens and toques, $25 gift certificate for food/drink from Tulip Bar, 50% off single use parking pass for the Airport Parkade, notebook, pens and pencils from American Airlines, gift cards from Booster Juice valued at $15, and various other products.
    3.     4. Gift cards from HMS Host for food in the terminal, various bags from Paradies Lagardère and DFASS, cotton top, baseball cap from First Air, voucher for one free weekend night stay for two including breakfast at Hilton Garden Inn, Porter plane model, 1 pair Canada Olympic team mittens, $25 gift certificate for food/drink from Tulip Bar, 50% off single use parking pass for the Airport Parkade, notebook, pens and pencils from American Airlines, gift cards from Booster Juice valued at $15, and various other products.
  3. The approximate retail value of each Raffle Prize is $350.
  4. There will be one (1) grand prize (“Grand Prize”) awarded, consisting of a trip for two (2) (non-transferrable) to any destination serviced non-stop by an airline flying out of the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, as well as a CAD $5,000 spending money. The Raffle Prizes and Grand Prize are collectively, the “Prizes”.
  5. The Grand Prize consists of:
    1. Two (2) round trip economy class flights to anywhere that an airline flies directly, non-stop, from the Ottawa International Airport (approximate retail value between $600 and $5,000); and
    2. CAD $5,000 cash payable by cheque or e-transfer 30 days before the date of the flight, once booked.
  6. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $10,000.
  7. The selected entrant/winner will have the Grand Prize fulfilled by a third-party travel agency of the Sponsor’s choice who will book the trip on the passenger’s behalf. All associated booking fees will be paid for by the Sponsor.
  8. The flights must be booked and taken by December 31, 2019.
  9. Prizes have no cash value. Only one Prize per person will be awarded.

WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZE AWARD

  1. Winners will be chosen by a random computer generated draw from all eligible Contest entries received by 11:59 PM EST the day prior to each draw date. For certainty, dates of the draws are:
  • Monday, December 17, 2018;
  • Friday, December 21, 2018;
  • Monday, December 24, 2018;
  • Friday, December 28, 2018; and
  • Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
  1. The Raffle Prize draws will be held on December 17, 21, 24, and 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. EST at the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority offices at 1000 Airport Parkway Private, Ottawa, Ontario, K1V 9B4.
  2. The Grand Prize draw will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. EST at the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority offices at 1000 Airport Parkway Private, Ottawa, Ontario, K1V 9B4.
  3. Selected entrants from qualifying Facebook and Twitter entries will be contacted by private message. Selected entrants from qualifying online forms will be contacted by phone and/or email as set out in the entry.
  4. At least three attempts will be made to contact the winners on different days. If the selected entrant cannot be reached or does not respond within 72 hours or if, for any reason, a Prize cannot be awarded, another Contest entry will be randomly drawn within 24 hours after the 72 hour period has expired. The selected entrant will be given 72 hours to claim the prize, and so on, until all Prizes have been awarded.
  5. The odds of winning will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received before each draw.
  6. Before being declared a confirmed Contest Prize winner, the selected entrant must:
    1. Correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question without mechanical or other aid; and
    2. Sign and return within five (5) business days of notification the Sponsor's Contest Declaration of Eligibility and Release, which (among other things):
      1. Confirms compliance with these Rules;
      2. Acknowledges acceptance of the applicable Prize as awarded;
      3. Releases the Sponsor and each of its respective officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the "Releasees") from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the applicable Prize or any portion thereof; 
      4. Releases, discharges, indemnifies, and holds harmless Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media platform (as applicable) from any and all liability, claims, or damages, demands, actions, or causes of action whatsoever; and
      5. Agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of his/her name, address (city only), voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet.
  7. The Grand Prize winner’s travel companion must also sign the Sponsor's Contest Declaration of Eligibility and Release form to be eligible to travel.
  8. If a selected entrant fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; and/or cannot or is, for any reason unable to, accept the Prize as awarded for any reason; then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the applicable Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to randomly select an alternate eligible entrant from among the remaining eligible entries (in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such new selected entrant).

PRIZE CONDITIONS

  1. The Prizes will only be awarded to eligible entrants whose verifiable full name and valid e-mail address appears on the Contest entry.
  2. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for any of the Prizes.
  3. The Grand Prize winner's travel companion must be either of the age of majority in his/her province/territory of residence or be a family member and have the express written consent (in form and substance satisfactory to the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion) to accompany the confirmed winner on the Grand Prize trip.
  4. The Grand Prize winner’s travel companion must sign (or have his/her parent/legal guardian sign if he/she is under the age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence) and return the Sponsor's declaration and release (by the date indicated on the release form) indicating that he/she waives all recourse against the Releasees relating to his/her participation in the Grand Prize (including, without limitation, any travel related thereto).
  5. The Grand Prize winner and companion must have valid travel documents prior to departure or the Prize will be forfeited. The winner is solely responsible for obtaining and/or renewing travel documents in order to travel. The Sponsor assumes no liability for ensuring the winner and/or companion are eligible/able to travel. Certain restrictions may apply to air travel, and air travel reservations are subject to availability. The air carrier’s regulations and conditions apply.
  6. The Grand Prize winner and their companion must travel on the same itinerary. The cost of travel by the winner and any companion to and from the winner’s and companion’s residences and the point of departure is solely the responsibility of the winner. All expenses other than those specifically referred to above, including but not limited to meals, beverages, gratuities, ground transportation, travel and health insurance, excess baggage fees, communications charges, and all other incidentals are the responsibility of the winner and their companion.
  7. No changes will be permitted to travel dates or passenger names once the travel portion of the Grand Prize has been booked.
  8. We reserve the right to designate all transportation particulars and routes relating to the Grand Prize.

PRIVACY

  1. The Sponsor respects the privacy of each individual with whom it comes into contact, either as a visitor to this website or as an entrant into the Contest. 
  2. By entering your personal information, Contest entrants consent to receive email communications from the Sponsor for the purposes of managing and administering the Contest, the awarding of the Prizes and as otherwise be related to, or necessary for, the Prizes.
  3. By using social media or providing personal information, Contest entrants consent to receive email communications from the Sponsor for the purposes of managing and administering the Contest, the awarding of the Prize and as otherwise be related to, or necessary for, the Prize.
  4. If you enter the Contest through Facebook or Twitter, the Sponsor is not responsible for any privacy settings that you have. Your privacy settings on Facebook must allow the Sponsor to send you a private message and view your comment on the Contest post. Your Twitter profile must be public in order for the Sponsor to track and gather your Contest entry. If your Twitter profile is not public then you can still participate, comment, and share the posts but you will not be eligible to enter the Contest.
  5. Contest entries which are deleted from Facebook or Twitter, either accidentally or on purpose, are not eligible for entry in the Contest. If you change your privacy settings so that the Sponsor is unable to view your post/tweet before the Prizes are accepted then your Contest entry is not eligible for entry in the Contest.

GENERAL

  1. By entering, entrants agree to abide by the Contest rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final. The decision(s) of the Sponsor is/are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest including, but not limited to the administration of the Contest, the selection of potential winners, the determination of the eligibility of any entry and the award of any Prize in connection with the Contest.
  2. By accepting a Prize, the Prize winner agrees to hold the Sponsor and the independent contest organization and their respective agencies, affiliates, parent(s), subsidiaries, agents, advertising and promotion agencies and anyone else involved in the development, production or handling of the Contest and their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out acceptance or use of the Prize including, but not limited to, travel-related injuries and/or death. The winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, whatsoever and howsoever arising, by participation in this Contest or use or redemption of the Prizes.
  3. Sparty on the Shelf locations are in shops, services, or restaurants within the Passenger Terminal Building. There will be locations both pre and post-security. No Sparty on the Shelf will be found in a restricted area or an area which requires special clearance to access save for those found post-security which will require a valid boarding pass to access through security.
  4. To enter and be eligible to win, an entrant must be a resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority in the entrant’s province or territory of residence on or before December 13, 2018.
  5. Further, to enter and be eligible to win, an entrant must not be an: i) employee of the Sponsor, ii) an employee of the Ottawa International Airport vendors and/or companies who contributed to the Raffle Prizes (Booster Juice, Air Canada, First Air, West Jet, American Airlines, DFASS Duty Free, Porter, Metalsmiths, ReadyCredit, Paradies Lagardère, Hilton Garden Inn, ICE Currency Exchange, Tulip Bar, and HMS Host), or iii) an Infoguide who serves at the Ottawa International Airport; nor can an entrant be members of the immediate family (brothers, sisters, children, father, mother, spouse) of the individuals outlined in this paragraph nor any person domiciled with the individuals outlined in this paragraph.
  6. All entries become the property of the Sponsor who assumes no responsibility for Contest irregularities including printing or typographical errors, lost, delayed, destroyed or misdirected entries or for any software malfunctions of any kind of unavailable network, failed or incorrect communications caused by the sender or the equipment or programming.
  7. The Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time, for any reason whatsoever.
  8. In the event that the Grand Prize winner and his/her travel companion wish to extend their travel, they may do so at their own expense.
  9. The Prizes cannot be converted into cash, exchanged or transferred to a third party.
  10. All intellectual property, including but not limited to trademarks, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, images, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by the Sponsor, unless otherwise indicated. All rights reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any of the Sponsor’s intellectual property without the express written consent of the Sponsor is strictly prohibited.
  11. The Sponsor is not responsible for additional meals, transportation, or transfers, or any other expenses that may be associated with accepting the Prizes.
  12. Entry materials that have been tampered with, reproduced, falsified or altered in a manner not contemplated by these Rules are void. In the event that an potential or determined winner is disqualified for any reason, the Prize, as the case may be, may be awarded to an alternate winner by random draw from among all remaining eligible Contest entries. Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be subject to enforcement, remedies and damages.
  13. The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook or Twitter.
  14. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.
  15. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and bylaws that apply in Ottawa, Ontario. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
  16. For residents of Quebec, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling.
